In 2007 the new members of Club 31 were organized into a committee of their own by President, Doug Jackson. We were given a sum of money from the Denver Rotary Club Foundation and were tasked with spending the money as a group on a beneficiary cause and then to report back to the Board of Directors and to the members of our club what we did. Over the course of the last couple of years we met at several fun places and found out that the most enjoyable part of our mission was meeting each other, socializing with new members in our club, and having a group of us that knew and identified quickly with the club as a whole.
We called ourselves Top Gear and since mid 2007 we have held a golf tournament to raise money, we gave funds to several sources, we have held several parties to include a billiards party at the DAC, a Craps gambling party where we raised money for our fund, drinks at the pool at Lakewood Country Club, several “Happy Hours” at the Hard Rock Café’, and several “band practice” parties in Robert Prilika’s underground sound studio. Our next events planned are our 2nd annual Golf Tournament at Castle Pines Ridge on September 10th, and an underground mine tour in Idaho Springs.
In 2008 a similar committee was formed, had a similar mission and similar experiences. At this time Top Gear is inviting all new members, 2007-09 into it’s group.
I want each and every one of you to feel welcome to join our group and get in with the fun. Spouses are welcome to join the activities. We are currently meeting bi-weekly to socialize, discuss the golf tournament, and future activities.
